Beyond meat is the largest publically traded producer of plant based meats. The faux meat market is expected to be worth 85 billion by 2030 as climate friendly solutions gain traction. Impossible Foods is the largest producer in this market but remains private with a rough valueation of 8.5 billion. Beyond Meat is currently valued at about 6 billion. These companies are quite comparable right now but investors who want exposure to this growing industry have to go with Beyond.
Beyond Meat just fell 14% today on missed revenue expectations, pulling in around 100 million instead of the 130 million expected. I see this as a very short term disruption, likely due to shipping backlogs and general eocnomic uncertainty. Beyond is in talks with both McDonalds and Yum Brands to get their product in global fast food chains. A deal with either one of these could quickly double their revenue.
I like Beyond for a long term hold with a price target in the 150 range. This is betting on one of the major deals going through within the next year.
